Google Maps works for me but not for visitors
Nothing is wrong with your key — something between the visitor and Google is cancelling the request. Reproducing it is most of the work.
How to tell this is your problem
- Customers report a broken map you cannot reproduce.
- Reports cluster around a company, country or browser.
- Your own cached session always works.
Why it happens
Privacy extensions, corporate proxies, DNS filtering and regional blocks all drop Maps requests. Consent tools can also withhold the map until a banner is accepted.
The fix, step by step
- 01Test in a private window with extensions enabled, and again with a common ad-blocker.
- 02Test on a mobile network to rule out your own DNS or proxy.
- 03Check whether your consent tool blocks Maps in the default state.
- 04Add a static map fallback image so a blocked map still shows the location.
Confirm it is fixed
A scan reports the failure signature from a clean environment, which tells you whether the cause is your page or the visitor’s network.
Check whether this is your error
A scan tells you in about twelve seconds, from a clean session.
